Governor Amaechi's secret on how he won the Governorship case at the Supreme Court

While attending a Christmas Day service at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi revealed his ‘secret’ for winning the governorship seat in the state. In his own words:

“As a government led by me, a government installed by Christ, if anybody tells you he installed me, tell him it is a lie. Tell him that I said I prayed for 10 months and I fasted from 6am to 6pm, calling on Christ to come down and Christ came down mightily and installed me as governor.

“That is why you can see that in the face of human effrontery, I have been able to stand face to face with them and I say I have Christ in me.”

Amaechi didn’t slip on the opportunity to take a swipe at the Federal government as he blamed it for the widespread insecurity in the country.Then he went all spiritual:

 “You must rise in that same spirit of having Christ in you and confront those who are confronting you. You must stand up for Christ because the Bible says ‘faith without work is dead.’

“We must not die. We must live and the way to live is to celebrate Christ and the way to celebrate Christ is to confront Satan and Satan is in different forms and shapes. If the police shoot at you, they are satanic. If government denies you your right to live, that government is satanic.”

Zimbabwe closes door at Nigerian businesses

HARARE, Zimbabwe -- Zimbabwean authorities say they have given foreign shop-owners --mostly Chinese and Nigerian nationals-- an ultimatum to shut down their businesses by Jan. 1.

A top official of the black empowerment ministry said only Zimbabweans had the right to run shops that have sprung up across the country and are termed foreign businesses targeted under the nation's black empowerment laws, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reported Friday.

Those laws, passed in 2007, demand foreign businesses to cede 51 per cent control to local blacks.

The foreign shop owners have been criticized for taking retail trade opportunities from Zimbabwean traders by selling cheap imports.

Poor townships and city flea markets have in recent years been inundated by shops run by foreigners.

According to state media, shop owners who fail to comply will be arrested.

Gunmen Rape student to Coma

Some Gunmen yesterday raped a young female student of the University of Calabar to a state of Coma. The Hoodlums attacked the hostel located somewhere around Mount Zion road by Inyang Edem and molested all the female students that were found in the vicinity and carted away their valuables.

On realizing that one of the female students was a virgin, they each took turns to take a taste of virgin blood.

By popular demand, Angolan authorities have taken pre-emptive action and decided to ban the Muslim religion, which they consider a cult, NOT a religion. They see what Muslims are doing to Christians, especially in Africa, and are taking steps to prevent the same from happening in Angola.

Xibaaru  In early October 2013, the Muslims living in Luanda in the municipality of Viana Zango were shocked to see the minaret of their mosque dismantled into pieces on the ground without permission. On Thursday 03 October in the morning, the Angolan authorities decided to destroy the mosque Zango located in the urban district of Viana 17 km. The governor of Luanda Bento announced in a radio spot that radical Muslims are not welcome in Angola and the Angolan government is not ready for the legalization of mosques in Angola.

And on Tuesday, November 19, the Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva said. “Regarding Islam, the legalization process has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Therefore all mosques would be closed until further notice. “ It should be noted that the Angolan government has made closing of all mosques a priority. The only two mosques located in Luanda have already received a warning document  signed by the mayor of the municipality of Viana José Moreno.

A.According to P.M. News, the police at Idimu, Lagos state in Nigeria have arrested the wife of a pastor[I hope not Mountain of Fire], Mrs. Angela Uzoma, for pouring hot water on her sister.
She was arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for injuring the teenager. The 28-year old housewife who is also the women’s leader in her husband’s ministry at Shasha allegedly poured hot water on Chidinma Chukwu, causing her serious injury.

The incident happened at their residence at Ifelodun Street Orisunmbare, Shasha, Lagos State, western Nigeria. We gathered that the pastor’s wife accused the 14-year old Chidinma of selling only few pawpaws on the fateful day. Angela, according to the police investigating officer (IPO), had warned Chidinma to ensure that she did not come back home without selling all the pawpaws packed in her tray for sale that day. Unfortunately, she did not sell everything and Angela became angry, accusing her of being too playful.


The culprit tried to hide the incident by refusing to take her to a hospital. Instead, she arranged with a nurse who was treating her at home. The matter came into the open when a samaritan*cough*amebor heard of it and reported to the police at Idimu. Angela was promptly arrested. Narrating what happened, Angela said she did not intentionally pour water on her, adding that she brought her from the village to train her and she was hawking pawpaw to assist the family to feed. “It is the devil’s work and I regret what happened. I want to settle this matter out of court,” she begged.

Her husband, Pastor Paul Uzoma, described the incident as unfortunate. “When I heard of it, I blamed my wife and told her she went too far,” he said. He, however, said his wife meant well for the girl and that was why she brought her to Lagos to train her[ask me,more like slave her].

When she was arraigned in court on Tuesday, she pleaded not guilty. The presiding magistrate, Mr. P.E Nwaka granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. She was ordered to be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Apapa when she couldn’t fulfill the conditions attached to her bail. The matter has been adjourned till 12 December, 2013

It’s just paper gains, but it counts. Nigerian banker Tony O. Elumelu has become at least $123 million richer between November 1 and November 21 as shares of Transcorp PLC, a Nigerian-Stock Exchange-listed conglomerate, surged 186% in that period.
Transnational Corporation Of Nigeria, usually referred to as Transcorp, is an emerging conglomerate holding investments in hotels, power and agriculture. On November 1, the company’s stock was trading at N1.87 ($0.01), and at the close of trading today (Thursday), the stock was trading at N5.35 ($5.35). According to an analyst who did not want to be quoted, there has been an unprecedented demand for Transcorp’s shares at the bourse on account of the company’s recent acquisition of the Ughelli Power plant, a strategic power generation company that the government recently sold in a privatization exercise. Transcorp PLC, under Elumelu’s leadership,  acquired the plant for $300 million. Transcorp officially took over the plant on November 1. Investors are scrambling for the stock in anticipation of the long-term impact the new acquisition will likely have on Transcorp’s financial results.

Elumelu began gobbling up shares in the company in April 2011 through his wholly-owned proprietary investment vehicle, Heirs Holdings. In September 2011, he was appointed chairman of the company, promising to diversify the company’s business interests and deliver value to shareholders – promises he seems to have delivered on. He currently owns over 5.7 billion shares of the company (5,745,890,693 to be exact, according to Transcorp’s latest corporate filings), held in his own name and via Heirs Holdings, equating to a 22.26% stake, making him the company’s largest individual shareholder. His shares in Transcorp alone are now valued at N30.7 billion or $188 million.  A representative for Elumelu could not be reached for comment at press time.
Elumelu made his fortune by acquiring a small, struggling Nigerian commercial bank and building it into the United Bank of Africa Group, a leading financial services institution with operations in several African countries as well as in New York and London. He stepped down as the bank’s CEO in 2010 to focus on investing in African businesses through his private investment vehicle, Heirs Holdings and to groom Africa’s next generation of business leaders through his Tony Elumelu Foundation.

Man Sues Italy, Israel and Pontius Pilate over the crucifixion of Jesus Christ

According to ChristianPost; Dola Indidis, a lawyer, Roman Catholic, and former spokesperson for the Kenyan Judiciary, filed the lawsuit regarding Jesus’ death with the International Court of Justice, the primary judicial branch of the United Nations based at The Hague in the Netherlands. Indidis filed the lawsuit against Pontius Pilate, several Jewish elders, King Herod, Tiberius (Emperor of Rome 42 BC-37AD), the Republic of Italy and the State of Israel. “I filed the case because it’s my duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus and I have gone to the ICJ to seek justice for the man from Nazareth,” Indidis told the Nairobian in a recent interview. “His selective and malicious prosecution violated his human rights through judicial misconduct, abuse of office bias and prejudice.” Indidis claims the goal of his lawsuit is to have “a declaratory judgment declaration that the trial judgment and sentence entered were badly done and therefore null and void,” according to The Blaze. Additionally, the lawyer argues that Jesus’ sentence was incompatible with Galilean law at the time, as the sentence for blasphemy was being stoned to death, not crucifixion. According to the Jerusalem Post, Indidis named the Republic of Italy and the State of Israel in the lawsuit because when these two states gained independence, they incorporated the laws of the Roman Empire into their new government systems. These are the same laws that were in effect when Jesus was crucified. Indidis initially submitted his case to the Kenyan High Court in Nairobi in 2007, but it was rejected for not having enough legal standing, especially since parties Indidis wishes to prosecute have been dead for 2,000 years. Although Standard Media reports that the International Court of Justice has created a preliminary panel to consider Indidis’ case, an ICJ spokesperson told Legal Cheek that it would not be considering the case, as it is out of its jurisdiction. The ICJ usually focuses on territory disputes between countries belonging to the United Nations. “The ICJ has no jurisdiction for such a case. The ICJ settles disputes between states. Navy to start generating revenue for government

 Could this be true- that the Nigerian Navy that has the statutory responsibility of defending the territorial integrity of the nation by protecting the waterways of the country is now so idle that it wants to start building war ships for sale. Apart from the fact that this is outside their statutory responsibility, it is pertinent to note that this is not the first time that such comments would have been made without any efforts being made to achieve it.

 The Nigerian Navy says it is building commercial war ships for export within the African countries.The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Dele Ezeoba, said this on Tuesday when he inspected the second indigenous patrol ship under construction at the Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos.Ezeoba expressed confident that the Nigerian Navy was skilled enough to build patrol ships between 10 and 38 metres in size for export.“The Nigerian Navy will no longer buy a ship of between 10 and 12 metres in size, because we have the capacity and capability to build them in our dockyard,’’ he said.According to him, the ship under construction is in the same class with first indigenous 31 metres patrol ship, NSS Andoni, but was redesigned and upgraded to 38 metres.Ezeoba said that the ship building business would not only attract economic value but create job for hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in the maritime sector and beyond.He assured that the second indigenous ship would be delivered to Nigerian Navy by the dockyard for its inauguration into the fleets latest by June 2014.At the NSS Beecroft, the Naval Chief also inaugurated four new patrol shaldag mante boats to enhance operational capability of the base in addition to the six of their class which were inaugurated in December 2012.Earlier, while addressing officers and rating at the Naval Training Command, Apapa, Ezeoba announced plan to build a new Navy barrack in Abuja in order to address the accommodation problem in the service.He said that the Naval Headquarters was looking at the possibility of channelling the lodging allowances of officers and ratings, which amounted to N3.6 billion annually, into building more houses within a year

I have had a lot of young people come to me with one problem. Their parents always want them to do this or that. Others are required to study a particular course to enable them take over the family business. It happens that these young people want something different from that of their parents. My advice is always “follow your heart.”

If you don’t love what you do, there is no way you can excel in it. If you are in an environment where you can’t express yourself, how can you unleash your full potentials? Don’t be a traditionalist. Don’t do something because others are doing it. Don’t ever think of doing something that will displease you in other to please some other people. It’s your life and only you will be accountable for it.
